We are proud to present ‘Edges of the worlds’. An exhibition at art initiative B93 by ARE artist-in-residence Kami Mierzvvinsk. Kami is an interdisciplinary visual artist from Poland and uses performative techniques to create painting objects.

The paintings presented in the exhibition are ghosts, passages, symbols of profound experiences bordering on the metaphysical, transformed onto canvas, whose working process took place in the action of an individual performative painting practice. They are a kind of windows or portals to other dimensions or still undiscovered spaces.

Opening: March 8, 20:00-23:00
Artist talk: March 15, 20:30-22:00

The exhibition ‘Edges of the worlds’ focuses on the process of painting objects using Kami’s performative technique. Psychological techniques have been used in artistic methods since the 1920s. They contribute not only to the knowledge of individual language, but also to the recognition of the individual’s potential, making him or her creative by nature. Kami wishes to recognize the potential of the viewer, who has no knowledge of the author’s intention. The potential to interpret the work, which is figurative indefiniteness, in a more defined way. Leaving the viewer’s free will in such situations gives them the opportunity for self-development and offers them the space to penetrate more deeply into the recesses of their own inner self.

The work of Kami often reflects a longing for a disembodied time, pointing to a fluid and genderless spiritual element that transcends divisions. Their art also addresses the challenges of maintaining individuality in a society that often emphasizes conformity and homogeneity, as well as the disappearance of metaphysical experience in contemporary life. Through their art, they show worlds of meditative transcendence, encouraging a renewed appreciation of the mysteries of existence.

Kami Mierzvvinsk is an interdisciplinary visual artist, born in 1993 in Upper Silesia in Poland. They have received their MFA in 2020 from Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Wrocław in 2020 with diploma from painting and multimedia. Their current artistic practice involves painting, installation, video art and spatial design. Their multifaceted body of work touches upon issues of minorities and social exclusion.
