Deze zomer verblijven JUJU (Zuid Korea) en Wu Shini (China) in de studio’s van ARE (Artist Residencies Enschede).
Op donderdag 25 augustus vertellen ze beide over hun werk in een Artist Talk bij Concordia. Twee verschillende werelden en twee verschillende kijken op kunst komen op een unieke manier bij elkaar.
De tentoonstelling ‘The Spectacle’ van Wu Shini loopt nog tot 28-08-2016 en is te zien bij project-space XPO (Stroinkbleeksweg 2).
Op 4 september a.s. opent de tentoonstelling van JUJU bij Dynamo Expo (H.B. Blijdensteinlaan 85).
JUJU over haar werk:
The phrases and words like “NO ENVY IN THE WORLD”, “SELF RELIANCE”, “OBEY FATHER” are indirect expressions of North Korea’s symbols and propaganda. This speaks to the view of the next generation after the Korean War and national division. The red stained glass used in the main letters symbolizes the blood of people. Audiences may find themselves looking at the glass through the mirror of emptiness.

In the face of the rapid development of the process of modernization and globalization,”the society of the spectacle “always deprive our perception ability.The lack of belief and the collapse of the spiritual civilization make we feel lost.The existence of the ruins is the status of our spirit.
